The Art of De-Stressing
my friends are ghosting me, exams are coming up and I don't feel like studying, i'm sick of doing mom's chores, and can't even finish my favourite book because i have so much to do but i'm not doing anything.
This is the feeling when you know that you're overwhelmed. Something that we all feel but don't know we're feeling it.
Overwhelmed \ noun
to cause somebody to feel such a strong emotion that he/she does not know how to react
So what do you do? Hear me out: whenever i'm upset or feel like life's just too much, here's what i do:
1. Scroll
yup, not gonna lie i spend atleast an hour scrolling on YouTube unnecesarily(even when i know it's not good for me!) but yeah i still do it.
2. After I'm in my senses, i take out a piece of paper and start writing my To-do List.
This always helps, there is so much of stuff to do that writing all of it down genuinelly helps me, and you include everything you have to do in it, I mean it when i say EVERYTHING. Here's an eg:
To Do List-
- Bullet Journal ✔️
- Watch new Deadpool movie ✔️
- Research for new blog entry ✔️
- Prep for mom's birthday
- Take a bath(atleast try bruh)
- Hunger Games!!! ✔️
3. After I've done this, I know what is the most hard to tackle(it's usually the bath) and i start with that. But sometimes, there are things where i can't even do anything to get over it, which leads to stress, like getting hung up over a guy not replying to my texts, friends cancelling on plans you really looked forward to, and even simple things like having the worst bhaji for dinner.
So there's only one thing that i can do: MOVE ON. Period
The one thing that helps me move on from these stupid things is cuddling up with a good book.
4. Chill: the perfect remedy for everything
When I’ve done everything I can—or when I just can’t anymore—I hit pause and find my comfort zone. For me, that usually means grabbing a cozy blanket, and watching an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S
Some of my go-to de-stress reads are:
- Harry Potter (because let’s be honest, Hogwarts is home).
- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (because it reminds me that even in tough times, love and hope always find a way).
Whatever your “chill” looks like—books, music, doodling, or just staring at the ceiling—it’s okay to take a breather. Your To-Do List will still be there when you’re ready.
If you have any kind of things that cause you stress and you're wondering on how to get over it, the comment section is just below!
And remember: at the end of the day, stress doesn't last forever. Life can be messy, but hey so are the best stories. Trust me, it all works out in the end (:
